Finding Comfort: How Nellai's Nature Helped Me to Heal
Panagudi, my village in Tirunelveli, is not just a place for me; it is my safe place. I have faced little bit of struggles and depressions. In that time with the help of beautiful nature around me made to feel better during those tough times. In this blog, I want to share how Panagudi’s nature has comforted me and aided my healing journey, especially when life felt heavy.
1. The Calm of the Local Fields
The fields surrounding Panagudi are one of my favorite places to visit. When I feel overwhelmed, I often go to these fields to relax. I remember one particularly hard day when sadness weighed heavily on my heart. I had been feeling alone, missing the laughter of my friends and the warmth of happy moments. As I walked through the fields, letting the cool breeze wash over me, I noticed a group of children playing. They were running and laughing, completely carefree. Watching their joy reminded me of my childhood, a time filled with laughter and light. I felt tears welling up in my eyes, but instead of sadness, I felt a gentle warmth in my heart. It was as if the fields were wrapping me in a comforting hug, reminding me that joy still exists in the world.
2. The Healing Power of Trees
Panagudi is filled with lush greenery and trees. There’s a large banyan tree near my house where I often go to sit and think. One day, when my depression felt especially strong, I visited the tree and sat down in its shade. As I closed my eyes and took deep breaths, I remembered climbing that tree with my friends as a child. We would spend hours up there, feeling like we were on top of the world. But that day, I felt so lost. I let out a deep sigh, and as I looked up, I noticed the leaves gently swaying in the breeze. It reminded me that even the strongest trees have their moments of struggle. Just like the tree, I realized I could weather my storms and grow stronger. In that moment, I felt a connection to the tree and a spark of hope that I could heal, too.
3. Watching the Beautiful Sunsets
The sunsets in Panagudi are truly breathtaking. I love to watch the sky change colors as the sun sets behind the hills. One evening, after feeling particularly lonely, I climbed to a nearby topview spot to watch the sunset. As I sat there, I remembered the family picnics we used to have at the same spot. I could almost hear my friends laughter and see their joy as we shared stories and food together. I closed my eyes, letting the colors of the sunset fill my heart with warmth. In that moment, I felt tears rolling down my cheeks. It was a mix of sadness for what I had lost and gratitude for the memories. I realized that life, like the sunset, has its ups and downs. Even when the day ends, the night brings new stars, reminding me that brighter days are ahead.
4. Connecting with Friends Over Parotta Nights
Spending time in nature is even better when I’m with friends. One of my favorite memories is our late-night outings for parotta. After a long day, we would gather at our favorite roadside eatery, sitting under the stars, sharing stories, and enjoying delicious parottas. One night, we ordered too many parottas and ended up having a fun eating contest! We laughed until our stomachs hurt, our laughter echoing in the still night. Even though I was struggling with my emotions, those moments of joy and connection reminded me that happiness can still be found, even in difficult times. I felt grateful to have friends who understood me and made me laugh, helping me forget my worries, even if just for a little while.
5. Finding Strength in Nature’s Challenges
Nature can be challenging too. I remember when heavy rains caused some areas in and around Panagudi to flood. It was scary to see the water rise and realize some families were in trouble. During that time, I saw my neighbors come together to help each other. People were sharing food, clothes, and other necessities. I even helped my mom prepare meals for families in need. Watching everyone work together during this tough time brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me that even in dark moments, we can find light in helping each other. This experience taught me that healing often comes from overcoming difficulties together, reminding me that I am not alone in my struggles.
Conclusion
Nature in Panagudi has played an important role in my healing journey, especially during struggles and depression. From the calming fields to the beauty of the sunsets, every moment spent in nature has helped me find peace and strength. I believe everyone can find comfort in nature, no matter where they are. If you’re facing tough times, I encourage you to take a moment to enjoy the beauty around you and let it heal your soul.
