Hometown Awaits:The Journey Begins
I’ve been to Tirunelveli more than three times in the last three months, but somehow, I still haven’t visited my hometown, which is just 60 km away! It’s like it’s been right there, teasing me, but work, deadlines, and everything else just kept getting in the way. Every time I was in Tirunelveli, I thought, “Maybe this time,” but nope, never happened.
Usually, I don’t go home for festivals. I’m more of a Trichy Diwali person, staying there and celebrating quietly. But this time, everything changed in a single phone call. Just two days ago, my mom hit me with a surprise: “Look at the tickets.” And trust me, when your mom tells you to check the tickets, there’s no negotiation. Turns out she had booked my tickets home for Diwali, and there was no backing out this time.
Finally Heading Home
The journey home is always a little chaotic, but that’s part of the fun. It’s a 60 km ride filled with bumpy roads, random cows deciding to have a mid-road meeting, and buses speeding past like they’re auditioning for a racing movie. But this time, I’m actually excited about it. For once, I’m looking forward to all those little things—the train ride, the smell of snacks from the vendors, and that feeling you get when you’re almost home.
This trip feels different. Maybe because it’s been so long since I’ve gone home for Diwali, or maybe it’s the fact that this time, I’m not going to be alone. I’ll be surrounded by family, and that thought just makes everything a little brighter.
Diwali Vibes and Family Fun
Diwali prep starts early in every Tamil household, and I’m sure my mom has already begun getting everything ready. From the lights and decorations to new clothes, there’s a certain excitement in the air. Even just thinking about the colorful kolams (rangoli) at the entrance, the sound of sparklers, and the aroma of sweets makes me smile. And this time, I’ll be there to experience it all.
What makes this Diwali even more special is that it’s going to be a big cousin reunion. It’s been ages since all of us got together, and this time, we’re making it happen. I can already imagine the chaos—jokes flying around, teasing each other, and endless rounds of snacks. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do, and I’m sure there will be those classic moments where everyone’s talking at once, but somehow, it all makes sense.
And of course, there’s going to be the traditional “who can burst the loudest cracker?” challenge. I’m pretty sure I’ll lose, but hey, it’s all about the spirit of Diwali, right? The thrill of lighting that first sparkler, the colorful bursts in the sky, and the friendly competition—there’s nothing like it.
Counting Down the Days
Usually, I’d be getting ready to celebrate in Trichy, with a quieter Diwali. But this time, I’m just counting down the days until I can board that train. The excitement is building up, and I can’t wait to be home, surrounded by family, and soaking up every bit of the festive madness.
I’ve missed the warmth, the fun, and even the noise. This Diwali is going to be all about family, laughter, and making memories. I’m already imagining the chaos when everyone arrives, the loud chatter, and the simple joy of being back home.
So here I am, staring at the calendar, waiting for the day to finally board that train. Diwali, I’m ready—let’s light it up and make it unforgettable!
